The Forecasters Club of New York, founded in 1950 by a group of New York economists, provides a forum for discussing economic issues and techniques to develop more accurate forecasts. The club is limited to 50 resident members, each from a different organization, in order to facilitate open discussion among a broad group representing different perspectives. Members are from financial institutions, nonfinancial businesses, government organizations, academia, private research firms, and non-profits.
The Club holds monthly meetings from September through June. Speakers are invited to meetings which are attended by members and their guests. Most meetings are conducted on an “off-the-record” basis, although speeches by important public officials are often “on-the-record” with press in attendance. See our recent past speakers. Member-only forecast sessions are held in May and November. The Club is a 501c3 organization.
